Sri Lanka Customs today (June 23) seized 5 motor cars from a warehouse in Orugodawatta which were imported from the United Kingdom to Sri Lanka.
These cars were imported under the guise of importing motor spare parts, said Sri Lanka Customs.
The vehicles seized include Mercedes-Maybach, Audi A1 and a Fiat car.
The detection had been carried out today by officials of the Revenue Task Force (RTF) Personal Baggage Examination Unit of Sri Lanka Customs, a spokesman said.
He said that on information received, the officials detected the used cars inside a container consigned from the UK.

Why the SL media and the politicians who often have no hesitation to spread fantasy and unfounded stories, cannot name those who imported these into the country? Is that news not of the public interest and have the public no right to know who these people are?
Indra Akke,
The Customs is a leaking sieve.
With a few buckshees, you can have have a whole un-inspected container delivered to your doorstep.
Unfortunately, the surgical remains imported by the richest man in the land stank too much and had to be intercepted.
Whole new cars are imported in containers and delivered to homes.
Drugs/ please don’t talk about it.
Anyone cares?
