Sri Lanka Air Force K-8 trainer jet crashes in Wariyapola

A Sri Lanka Air Force K-8 trainer jet crashed in Wariyapola this morning (March 21), following a loss of radar contact.
The aircraft had taken off from the China Bay Air Force Base in Trincomalee before losing communication and subsequently crashing in the Minuwangate area of Wariyapola.
According to Air Force spokesperson Group Captain Eranda Geeganage, the crash was the result of a technical malfunction.
Both the pilot and co-pilot ejected from the aircraft and landed safely using parachutes before the crash.
According to sources, the two pilots have been admitted to the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital for treatment.
