power cuts, power cuts, power cuts…. how Sri Lankans got used to this disastrous nonsense over the past 15-odd years without a whimper of a protest in the streets! Yes, even that far back, and continuing over the years until this mf ‘aragalaya’ insurgency, how many times I have been in the company of foreigners/tourists in SL who were disgusted with Sri Lanka due to these power cuts, for having to spend sleepless nights where their whole families, including tiny kids, without fans, A/C etc. and they were vowing to never come back to SL, but looking forward to go to other Asian countries for their future holidays. What infuriates me is that the Govt of SL’s highly paid tourism development authority mf’s seemed to be totally unaware of this huge impact to tourism, a major forex revenue earner element for the country, and all what they were interested in was getting hefty bribes from hotels/restaurants etc. when dishing out the necessary “GOSL approved” operating permits! Small wonder the country is in the terrible fu*ked-up bankrupt state that it is today!
