Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake to be appointed SLAF Commander
Air Vice Marshal Kolitha Gunathilake is to be appointed Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force with effect from February 28.
Educated at the prestiges Royal College Colombo, he joined the Sri Lanka Air Force as an Officer Cadet in the General Duties Pilot Branch. After successful completion of Flying Training he was commissioned as a Pilot Officer. He holds a MSc in Defence Studies and a MSc in management.
Abeywickrama is a graduate of the National Defense College, the Air Command and Staff College, Air University. He has undergone a number of training courses and is a qualified flying instructor.
Air Vice Marshal Gunathilake has been awarded the gallantry medals Rana Wickrama Padakkama and Rana Sura Padakkama for individual acts of bravery, the service medals Vishista Seva Vibhushanaya (VSV), Uttama Seva Padakkama and Sri Lanka Armed Services Long Service Medal.
