Bharatha killing: CID takes over investigations
The CID DIG had deployed a special police team headed by senior CID officers to conduct investigations into the killing of Presidential Trade Union Advisor and former Colombo District Parliamentarian Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
The special CID team had questioned several security persons who were present at the incident. Colombo District UPFA MP Duminda Silva who was seriously injured during the shooting incident is warded at the intensive care unit at the Sri Jayawardenapura Hospital.
Another person who was injured during the shooting incident had died at the Colombo National Hospital and two others who were injured during the shooting incident had also been admitted to the Colombo National Hospital. The Colombo JMO conducted the autopsy on Premachandra and later handed over the body to his close relatives. On Saturday morning, Premachandra had cast his vote at the Kolonnawa Balika Vidyalaya.
The shooting incident had occurred near the IDH junction in the Mulleriyawa area around 3.30 pm.
According to hospital sources, the three injured persons admitted to the Colombo National Hospital are in a critical condition.
