These bus operators only increase the prices but never increase the quality of service very poor service in almost all routes no proper service after 7 pm buses waiting in halts for longer periods some buses not fit for passenger transport, normal buses with curtains are called semi luxury and charges more than normal rates, and even the guy who is asking for an increase owns buses that run in the 176 route and he very well knows the service they provide even 163 and 183 buses just wait for more than 15 to 20 min in kalubowila, the government should set standards for these bus operators failing to adhere to the standards route permits should be cancelled
Dear Mr Concerned. You only get what you paid for. Nothing more nothing less. The vehicle you mention is not a bus. It is a truck with some seats. In develop countries you can get prosecuted even if you carry cattle in these.
But it suits 95% over employed Sri Lankens. These conductors and drivers has to make a profit. Other wise you even don’t get the service you describe.
Now if you want to better fast service get a “tuk” “tuk” or a taxi. (Kangaroo cars) or by a car. Problem sorted.
In trains you get 1st class, 2nd class, and 3rd class. You cannot pay for a 3rd class ticket and ask for the facilities of 1st class. In airplanes you get cabin class, business class and 1st class. It is up to you to pay for the comfort and the service you want.
Increase in Bus fares being limited to 10% is majic.
The Busses are never serviced and guzzle fuel at astonishing rates.
