Businessman arrested smuggling foreign currency in rectum
A businessman from Negombo was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport by Customs officials after attempting to smuggle 115,000 Euros and 21,000 Swiss Francs in three condoms hidden in his rectum.
The suspect was attempting to board a flight to Singapore before he was arrested last night (July 16) at around 10.30pm.
The entire sum of money was over Rs.22 million.
The suspect was arrested by customs officials who claimed that the businessman’s behavior was suspicious while the man was then taken to the Negombo hospital where a scan revealed the money hidden in his rectum.
The suspect is a 53 year old who sells vehicle spare parts. The airport customs officials are conducting further inquiries.
