Dalada Perahera ends today
The final Randoli Perahera of the Kandy Esala Festival paraded the streets amid a large number of foreign and local visitors last night. The annual Kandy Esala Perahera is the largest Buddhist festival and the most colourful cultural pageant in Sri Lanka.
Esela Perahera will formally end today with Sri Dalada Maligawa Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela Bandara presenting the traditional Sannasa to President Mahinda Rajapaksa to report the Perahera had been held successfully.
This would be done after the conclusion of the day Perahera.
The artistes who contributed to make the Perahera which paraded the streets for 11 days, a success, will be felicitated with awards and certificates by President Rajapaksa at President’s House in the evening.
