‘Defence Seminar – 2012’, – ‘Towards Lasting Peace and Stability’ begins today
‘Defence Seminar – 2012’, organized by the Sri Lanka Army began a short while ago at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo. The annual international gathering brings together senior military personnel, administrators, bureaucrats and intellectuals to share experiences and discuss matters on a range of issues related to Sri Lanka’s post-conflict achievements and development.
Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa will deliver the key note address.
During this year’s event titled ‘Towards Lasting Peace and Stability’, the participants will deliberate on issues on Reconstruction, Resettlement, Rehabilitation, Reintegration, and Reconciliation (5Rs). A number of scholars and renowned experts are scheduled to speak at the three day event.
More than 250 foreign and local delegates are attending the event. Guest speakers from the UK, US, India and Pakistan will be among the over 22 speakers who are scheduled to share their views, learn and adapt experiences, explore ways and means for applicability of new technologies for development, promote economic revival and reconciliatory moves for long-lasting peace and stability in Sri Lanka.
The event will conclude on Friday.

India, UK and USA are our enemies. They will make their usual face-saving sound bytes on need for world peace etc, while at the same time conducting wars in several theaters of war. They are hypocrites! On the pretext of war on terrorism they are actually aiding and abetting terrorism by financing and supplying weapons on a massive scale. See what is happening in Syria today.
The hypocritical West murdered Gadaffi of Libya and committed war crimes through their stooges, the terrorists in Libya. The West is now reaping the benefits by grabbing Libyan oil for their benefit. Libya however is in chaos with the different factions of terrorists killing each other. The ordinary citizens of Libya are suffering.
The evil imperialist West is carrying out the same successful agenda in Syria against its President, who is no friend of the West, which wants to grab its oil. Next stop will be Iran. The oil of the Middle East is then safely in the pockets of the evil imperial West to run their industry for the next century at least.
If oil is found in SL in large amounts the same will happen in SL. Hence oil is a curse for us and not a boon. Only the oil barons will get rich and zilch for the ordinary citizen of SL.
