Detained Rohingya refugees transferred under Police protection
The group of 30 Rohingya refugees, who were detained at a house of UNHRC in Mount Lavinia, had been taken into the Police custody for their protection, Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said.
He said the refugees who were apprehended by the Sri Lanka Coast Guard officials in April this year were initially detained at the Mirihana Detention Centre.
Later, they were handed over to the UNHRC and the UNHRC officials had detained them at a house in Mount Lavinia.
SP Gunasekara said the refugees arrived from Myanmar were taken into the custody for their protection after a group of monks protested against their stay in the country.
Sri Lanka Coast Guard craft on routine patrol in the Northern waters apprehended the fishing boat transferring the 30 refugees including 16 children, 7 women and 7 men in Sri Lankan waters, off the coast of Kankesanthurai on April 30.

This is cruelty.
Surely, does the Yahapana Lilly-white and his off-sider, the bacon fryer, wish to be Australia where inhumane treatment of refugees is disgusting.
Mal Trumbuller (PM) and July Bishoppa (FM) are under the control of the Nazi Immigration Minister, Petro Dooten and they have been welding a massive war on human rights.
Why is Skanda, our High Commissioner, keeping silent?
Why is Skanda not leading the Sinhala Buddhist community in Australia, protesting against the rights abuse of the Nazi controlled Govt in Australia?
Or, is Skanda busy with the YES vote in Australia? If YES wins, he may have a chance to settle down.
this is strange business while that hypocrite Jehan P of the peace council trying to strike a deal with ranil was running a covert operation with UNHRC to run a refugee operation. How much was this harvard educated bum was paid for this service by the UNHRC for the peace council runs like most non profits to do a sleazy job.
Anyway what the UNHRC ought to do is to find a place for place for these refugeess where there is large muslim population that can afford tp give them refuge like indonesia or malaysia that have the resotces to accomodate them for as it is there are tens of thousands living in shanties and the government nor the UNHRC even tried to attend to these issues for our leaders pretend that such a problem does not exsts.
The government ought to sack not only the UNHRC for violating sri lankan soveriegnity and the UN pought to be condenmned for this violation by sirisena instead talking of global conflicts something that he knows little of
Please send them back to a Muslim country. We don’t want them here. We are a small island, strangling to keep our heads above water. Sri Lanka is not a dumping ground.
