All Z scores were calculated wrongly in 2011 Advanced level examinations by the examinations department. Correct method of calculating Z score is by calculating Z score for each examination paper. Each subject had two different sets of papers. Raw marks of two different sets of literature papers cannot be taken together for calculation of Z score for literature. Z score for each subject comes from the raw marks of the same examination. Raw marks of totally different examinations cannot be mixed on a one list to calculate Z score for that subject. Z Sores for each paper need to be calculated independently. Then the average of three papers for three subjects comes as the correct Z score for the candidate. If the methodology is incorrect results were wrong. Methodology is wrong when they include two different sets of raw marks together to calculate Z score for any subject. Z scores of the entire A/L examination in the year 2011 seem to be incorrect. Complete reevaluation of z scores would help rectify this disorderly chaotic situation prevailing in the examination results.
