Former Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed in an exclusive interview to Ada Derana a short while ago said that he is prepared to be arrested. ‘The police might come any time now to arrest me, I am prepared,’ he said.
Speaking to Ada Derana from Maldives he added that he had requested all friendly nations to exert pressure on the current regime to restore law and order in Maldives.
The international community should pressure the current leadership in Maldives to refrain from assaulting opponents, Nasheed told Ada Derana.

This guy will be back one day; he’s a good leader.
Mr Nasheed is a leader committed to democracy. He has based his leadership philosophy on human rights and was able to bring democracy to the Maldivians after a 30 year dictatorship.
Unfortunately, he sought counsel from the Kurakkan Satakaya clad set of thugs in the neigbouring SL. This is probably because he is young and a bit inexperienced. Nashhed was attempting to breakthrough the stranglehold of the Gayoom appointed judiciary to bring reform. Our Kurakkan Satakaya clad thugs advised him to arrest the CJ !!! The Fonseka solution ! The Sirmavo solution by JRJ. opponenets eliminated by RP exceed finger count on two hands!
Nashhed appears to have attempted to follow the Kurakkan advice and within days, he is gone.
MC Idiri Dekama of course.
AK is well over the top, when he speculates wildly that Mr Nasheed was toppled as a result of following wrong advice from so-called ‘Kurakkan Satkaya thugs’!
Gayoom was a dictator for 30 years. Mr Nasheed and his MDP fought many years for democracy through elected govt. He had been in prison also for 6 years over his belief. Eventually, he won and was elected President. However, Gayoom has powerful friends in US Whitehouse. He is their kind of guy. They conspired to topple Nasheed. The coup d’etat was a result of this after 3 weeks of rioting by Gayoom’s goons, supported with some factions in the security services. I was amazed at the speed at which USA legitimised the coup and accepted Waheed as the new President. USA got its puppet Ban ki-Moon also to repeat parrot-wise, that Waheed is accepted by UN as the new President. He was not elected by the people of Maldives. He came to power through conspiracy and a coup d’etat. The UN should infact declare the deposing of Nasheed is illegal and therefore will not recognise the govt of Waheed. UNSG should request fresh democratic election asap. UNSG should also be concerned for the security of the deposed President Nasheed. However, this US puppet made no such statement or expressed concerns. Shame on him!!!
Oh Nicholas,
I wish people could form more rational opinions.
Mr N quickly embarks on bashing the US and the UNSG who are not related to events in Maldives.
The ex-President of Maldives is claimimg that he resigned at gun-point. If a gun was held to his body and the resignation demanded, as a true patriot and leader, he should have said “NO” to the demand and given up his life.
The moment he yielded to the demand, he became a self-seeker who wants to live to have a go at what he wants, another day.
I can see a strong Kurakkan Satakaya influence in this young man’s behaviour.
