Explain the stance on NPC resolution – Gammanpila urges Government
Neither the Prime Minister nor the President had responded in connection with the Northern Provincial Council’s decision to adopt a resolution seeking a federal solution for the country’s Tamil community, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya leader Udaya Gammanpila says.
The observation was made while speaking at a press conference held in Colombo this afternoon (25).
“As a politician, R. Sampanthan is trying to achieve what Velupillai Prabhakaran couldn’t accomplish through the war,” Gammanpila stressed.
He also went on to say only Minister Ajith. P. Perera explained the Government’s stance in this regard so far.
The NPC adopted the resolution seeking a federal solution to the long-pending issue of political independence for the country’s minority Tamil community, last week.
The resolution was presented by Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran while the Ministers and members of the council expressed views on the proposal afterwards.

This goon leader , the man who is racist to the extreme gamanpila is a silent killer. These vicious poisons must be pluck frin the deep root. Of course we are not much happy for this NPC resolution.
Udaya Gammanpila is a national hero of the stature of Anagarika Dharmapala.
In the future, the Sri Lankan Nation will erect a statue of him in Galle Face Green.
Foolish people would make statues like these Hindus. Of course, why not Sinhalese, they are also breed from eastern India right.
More over there are plenty of bare lands in and around galle face green, and its better to build a merging temple and kovil to gather and keep that holy gammanpila statue inside and worship you both.
Samantha Power, Chief US Spokesperson said:
“Each conflict is different from the other. Conflicts also have left deep scars in nations, as it has in Sri Lanka. I can say I have never seen a country take such swift strides in so little time. I think it’s extremely important that when a country takes such steps that the United States be there with you and have your back because it’s certainly not easy”
She also said:
“The wounds from the war run deep in people’s hearts and souls, the political headwinds that one faces, particularly when one is trying to execute as ambitious an agenda as President Sirisena and his government are doing – those headwinds can be very intense – and there’s a ton of work left to be done, including on such goals as transitional justice, promoting lasting reconciliation, improving the quality of governance, clearing out the red tape, all of the issues that you all are trying to work through”
“In an era where you see yet another world leader trying to change their constitution, expand the powers of whatever office they hold, here you have a situation where President Sirisena’s government has passed an amendment to Sri Lanka’s constitution that reintroduced a two-term limit and reduced the power of his own office”
Sirisena is a DARLING of UNCLE SAM,
