Five killed in Rilpola earth mound collapse

Five people have been killed in an earth mound collapse in the Rilpola area in the Badulla District, the Deputy Director (Media) of Disaster Management Center Sarath Lal Kumara told media. Altogether 9 deaths have been reported due to the inclement weather.
Seventeen districts have been affected by the inclement weather conditions prevailing throughout the island. Over 650,000 persons have been affected by floods and landslides.
Meanwhile NBRO has issued landslide warnings to 11 districts including Badulla, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Kalutara, Kegalle, Matale, Galle, Hambantota and Ratnapura.
