Fonseka ready to join hands with Dr. Bandaranayake
“I was forced to take to politics due to wrong decisions of the government. Former CJ Shirani Banadaranayake has also faced the same fate. I am ready to join hands with her to fight to protect democracy for the sake of the people and the country,” Democratic National Alliance leader Sarath Fonseka said, speaking to the media in Kotte.
“The country has deteriorated in every sector. Everyone hopes for an alternative. In my political career I do not want to keep company with thugs, drug addicts or to be a dictator. Some people say I am not fit for politics without such desires. I am ready to join hands with anyone who values democracy and peace in the country,” Fonseka added.

Birds of the same feather flock together. Other politicians who had supported SF have fled him in disgust after falling out with him. He is a political has been and a nonentity. It is such corrupt individuals who would try to destroy the good work of Hon President MR and his brothers.
Good news is the electorate knows the true colours of these individuals and cannot be duped. SB’s husband was sacked after he was caught for dipping his hand in the honey pot when he was chairman of the NSB. SB was also found guilty by PSC of corruption. Are these the people who the electorate wants to be their leaders? God forbid!
SL has done very well economically despite the recession around the world caused by bad policies of USA and the West. Greece, Spain are bankrupt countries supported by EU. For how long? EU will ultimately breakup when UK leaves it for its own good. SL must carry on on fast track development with the help of strong economy of China and other rich friendly countries who support us. There is vast unemployment in EU countries as well as in USA. So our people must not moan about the unemployment in SL. India is utterly poor with millions of people unemployed and even starving. Only a 5% are filthy rich. The Indian govt does little by way of social benefits/welfare for the poor and healthcare. The so-called low caste people are the worst off. India neglects them. Corruption and crime are rife in India. Women are not safe even in its capital, New Dlehi. Comparatively, life in SL is much better.
There he goes again, Uncle Nicholas blowing the ruler’s trumpets. Uncle Nicholas of course is happy on his taxpayer funded pension for life. He has no idea of economic hardship.
Uncle Nicholas, we have a spin doctor heading the Central Bank. The guy is a master at doctoring statistics to show the World of SL’s economic performance. The way things are Uncle, there is no regular energy supplies in our land. Soon, there will be fuel shortages because of the lack of money to buy fuel.
The treasury is seeking US $1billion as a loan. With recent performance this loan request is bound to be knocked back.
So Uncle Nicholas, you continue wearing those rose tinted glasses; we will be joining the rice and bread ques shortly.
WHO ARE YOU SARATH FONSEKA TO TELL ALL THIS TO US.
DESPITE US WARNINGS WE CAN GO TO THIS NICHOLAS DIAS FOR AID. AT THE SAME TIME WHO TELLS THAT YOU WON THE WAR.IT WAS WIMAL WEERAWANS WHO WON THE WAR FOR US.
Unfortunately when all the good doctors who knows best have had their go, the patient – Sri Laka and its ordinary people – will be dead. It is upto the people to weigh what they have witnessed and gained during the era of MR and to select him again or ditch him. People in SL need to think what the country thay have gained during each governmentsince 1948.
Yes a very good move and do not have faith in Sarath N. Silva and don’t ever take him on to your stage as he can play a double game. He is now his Excellency the President’s advisor as he did give advise to him about appointing of the new CJ. But his advice was not taken into consideration by the President as he too may have had doubts about this sudden friendship which Sarath N. Silva had got with the Government. Now he is trying to venture out in a cunning manner on to the Government Stage.
It is fantastic to see Onlanka allowing full freedom to comment on its blog. thank you Onlanka editior and team.
Why join only “hands”; why not join other things too?
Hello Anoma,
You make much humor in your comments to me. Thanks
When past friends like Arjuna and Alas etc left, Sarath Fonseka now feels lonely and isolated. After a while they all felt how good (or bad) this guy is and left. Shirani can also join and have first hand experience. Time will tell.
This reminded me an old Sinhalese saying “rubbish goes to rubbish” (Kunu yanne kunu thiyena thanatamai.
