This is a gravy train. What a loss to the govt treasury! I bet bogus media personnel and ‘artistes’ will now jump the band waggon to apply for such loans. They would apply for their kith and kin as well. Would they settle their loans? How many celebrities have got away with not settling their massive loans! I feel sorry for the common man who has to suffer the tax burden of these people, since these loans are interest and tax free, while poor Somapala has to struggle daily plying his three-wheeler to try to make ends meet for himself and his family. Is there no ‘sahanaya’ for Somapala? Hon President, I hope you provide sahanaya for the common man and not to celebrities, media personnel and artistes.
I support the recognition of media personnel through this beneficial initiative of the Rajapaksa government.
Journalists and Artistes possess skill levels equivalent to that of neuro surgens; Journalists and Artistes shape public values and opinions on all matters whilst neuro surgeons have hardly an influence on society.
I salute Hon Kehel Rambukwella on this brilliant initiative to reward those hold immense power over collective social behaviour.
i strongly support Nicholas Dias’s comment on this development ….. more such expressions of condemnation could save the country from total immersion in a corrupt and bankrupt society .
I can’t help suspecting this is a crafty move by the govt to curry favour with most of the media to write favourably about the govt. If the govt agenda is correct to take the country forward on fast track, why fear any adverse articles by media supporting the opposition? I fear that the govt has thrown money away to ‘bribe’ the media to write favourably on the govt in the times ahead when storm clouds are gathering against the govt nationally and internationally. It is like Caesar placating the mobs with bread and circuses.
Surely, there are many deserving cases among common men who act responsibly and do their duty many times over for the good of the ONE NATION! Is the govt going to give tax free cars to them all with interest free loans? Isn’t there more deserving people who are the silent few and real heroes to the common man? Caesar should stop throwing bread and circuses when he can ill-afford such waste of public funds. Isn’t it far better money is well spent on improving the life of the common man who is at the moment leading a hand-to-mouth existence, many embroiled in debt, wondering when and how to find their next meal for themselves and their kids? Shouldn’t the govt be focused on alleviating the problems of these common men by improving their lifestyles? Surely, the govt owes this to them since they form the majority that voted them to power?
