Life imprisonment for elephant killers
The government had decided to amend Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance to implement life imprisonment for those found guilty of killing wild elephants.
The cabinet paper submitted by Sustainable Development and Wildlife Minister Gamini Jayawickrama Perera had proposed to conduct combined operations by Wildlife Officers, Police Officers, and Armed Forces to protect Wild Elephants and Wildlife Resources in Sri Lanka.
A Combined Task Force comprised of Wildlife Conservation Department, Police Special Task Force, and Armed Forces would be established for this purpose.
It was also decided to obtain help of Forest Conservation Department and Sri Lanka Mahaweli Authority on this matter.

NO! That is not enough. Torture them shoot them.
Burn them alive!
In Sri Lanka the life of we the people is not worth as much of the life of a animal we the people kill a elephant when the authorities in self defense when the authorities . I do not think our judiciary will risk being accused of human rights violations by meeting out punishment by giving any punishment to the people they should give punishment to officials and ministers who do not give tranquilizer guns to the people to tranquilized the elephant to save themselves and their lively hood
Well said Engr Perera,
The Sinhala Buddhist Governments from 1948 including the Govt of the current Yahapalana Clowns, never respected human lives.
Animals threaten the livelihood of humans; these threats should be managed using multiple methodologies including training, non-destructive self-defence and community awareness education.
But the Sinhala Buddhist leaders focus on building their own wealth while in office. They never ever care about society.
Mr Thuleepan Somasundaram. You have a chip on your shoulder. You keep blaming the Sinhalese Buddhist for every down fall of your life. You Tamils are mind less cowards, who slaughter innocent children. No other terrorist organization attack children. Who you to lecture about human rights. Just look at Tamil Nadu. There is no respect for ant human life at all. No wander they want to enter SRi Lanka illegally as (kalla thonies) Keep taking the tablets Thuleepan Somasundaram.
Brother Ranjith, Mr. Thilupalan Somasundaram comfortably forget about LTTE kidnapped thousands of Tamil Children, brain washed them, put a cyanide capsule around their necks and sent to the war front violating every Human Right in the book. Before chanting ‘Sinhala Buddhist’ mantra, I kindly request Mr. T. Somasundaram to reflect on this.
I agree with you brother Mr Amarakoon . I have seen the fear of Tamil children’s face when the cyanide capsule put around there neck against there will. Bus load of innocent people were burnt alive. Children were slaughtered in front of their parents. Now this guy is talking about human rights make me sick.
Happy new year to you MrAmarakoon (2018)
