Police strengthens security for festive season
The Police Department has deployed a large number of police personnel both in uniform and mufti, to provide security to the public during the festive season, said Police Media Spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana.
A special traffic plan has also been implemented by the Police, especially at night. Drivers are requested to park their vehicles at a designated place. Traffic Police will take action against those who park their vehicles in other places.
The Police also requested the public to desist from wearing gold jewellery during shopping and attending musical shows and other public open air functions, especially at night, to avoid pickpockets.
The Police also advised parents to hang a label around the neck of small children when attending musical shows. This will enable to trace children if they go missing. Cases of missing children were reported from Galle Face last year.
