A tense situation has broken out in Puttalam following a clash between the police and the people of the area in which at least five people have been injured in a shootout and a policeman was killed after being assaulted by a group.
A woman and a 13-year-old child were among the injured who were rushed to the Puttalam Hospital.
The situation broke out after the presence of a Grease Devil was reported in the area after which the residents of the area took to the streets even setting fire to a motorbike.

This is just the beginning of neo-LTTE militancy in collusion with Islam Fundamentalists to secure autonomy through militancy. The ‘grease devil’ is an excuse created and fostered by these militants themselves.
What is the Hon President and Defence Secretary doing? They should call an emergency meeting of an inner group of Cabinet Ministers and Service Chiefs, akin to Cobra Group in UK, to find a fitting response to this development. One should not stand idly by until the situation grows completely out-of-hand. Intelligence Services should find out the hidden hand of fundamentalist Islam and neo-LTTE involvement and lay it bare to the country. The GOSL should take strong measures against it to nip it in the bud. Strong punishment should be meted out to the extremist politicians and all the individuals responsible for creating this militant unrest with vested interest.
I would not be surprised if this is a plot of TNA, Pillayan’s group, KP, diaspora Tamils/LTTE, Tamil extremists in Tamil Nadu and the imperial West dogs.
