President Mahinda Rajapaksa has sent a congratulatory message to the President-elect of Iran Mr. Hassan Rohani.
“I am certain that your vast experience in the realm of politics and the affairs of the state along with your leadership qualities will provide the necessary guidance to steer Iran forward,” President Rajapaksa wrote in his message.
Noting that Sri Lanka and Iran enjoy strong historical, bilateral ties that predate the modern diplomatic relations, which were established more than six decades ago, President Rajapaksa said he looks forward to working with President Rohani to further strengthen relations between the two countries.
