First the President and then the Prime minister must resign, then the others will follow.
Totally agree with you. How can these two carry on when they have let down the people of SL. The only thing they can do is to resign if they have an ounce of self respect.
Why ask these idiots to resign?
They should be sent on compulsory leave with no pay and the Public Service Commission and Police Commission should conduct enquiries to determine the extent of failures.
Instead, if they resign, they will quickly be given other responsible positions in Government by their political godfathers.
The Police come under a separate Ministry called Law and Order when the 19th Amendment was passed.
The Constitution identifies only three subjects that the President can hold: Defence, Mahaweli and Environment. Law and Order is NOT one of those.
By unlawfully holding on to this portfolio, the President has now become the first person who should take responsibility for these attacks that could have been prevented.
The President and only the President should resign and no body else can any body believe that the secretary to the President would have not inform the President that that there was was from several from foreign countries in formation that several churches in Colombo would be bombed by suicide bombers and no one had informed his Grace Cardinal Rangith about it if so his Grace Cardinal Rangith would have prevented the massacre by having the Sunday service on Saturday night Neither Hon Prime Minister nor the hon speaker was aware of it as such the President should forthwith resign
This is like changing the pillow to cure a headache!
Engr Perera,
Hon Sirisena and Fist Lady Jayanthi were on a private visit to Singapore being hosted by a gem merchant who has extensive commercial interests in Sri Lanka.
The President, as the illegal Minister for Law and Order (under 19A, President can be Minister only for Defence, Mahaweli and Environment) did not appoint an acting Minister while he was enjoyng with the First Lady in a luxury Singapore holiday.
Acocordingly, there was no Minister for Law and Order when the terrible incident took place.
The President and First Lady Jayanthi returned to the Island 24 hours after the incident because there were no first class seats available in flights from Singapore to Cbo.
Pujith and “Joker”siri Fernando are yet to resign.
The instruction from the President is illegal because he has assumed to be Minister for Law and Order despite the Constitution 19A which only allows the president to be Minister of Defenece, Mahaweli and Environment.
The entire world knows that the president does not perform his office according to constituition. He tried to replace his own PM and dissolve parliament illegally in Oct-Dec 2018. Now he has illegally assumed to be Minister for law and Order.
Because the President doesn’t follow the constittion, all world leaders including Trump, Pompeo, UN Secretary General, Theresa may, Emmanule Macron, Modhi, Imran Khan all spoke with Ranil and not the President.
Because of this lapse, his advisors in the Secreatariat have now released a news item that President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, (Dr) Ur-Rehman Arif Alvi and President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani spoke with the Pamb””” to show that some dictators spoke with the President.
Shame.
Initially President must resign. Then other will follow.
Before asking them to resign they must be asked to explain why no action was taken by them. We must ask the President for an explanation of why he permitted this situation to emerge. He must be held accountable by Parliament. Will some MP raise the issue in Parliament and move a resolution to impeach the President.
