Ranil pledges unconditional support for fight against coronavirus
UNP leader and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday (27) in a special statement pledged his party’s unconditional support to the government in all its endeavour to battle against coronavirus.
Wickremesinghe states that many other countries in the world have already taken action to introduce new laws necessary to curb the coronavirus epidemic and called on the Lankan government to do so. He said that the UNP will support any legislation that will be introduced by the government to curb the coronavirus epidemic.
Wickremesinghe also suggests that private sector should be allowed to import the necessary equipment needed for testing.
“It is important to do everything to save the people from the epidemic,” the UNP leader has said, adding that the government should follow the methods adopted by other countries to curb the spread of the disease.

What support he can give. Is he a doctor? Or is it financial support may be from Bank bond money. Or is he going to give manual support by lifting and carrying goods to the folks. Nonsense!
This basted is trying to make a political gain out of this situation. He doesn’t care about the country or the people as long as he cling to the political loop.
I agree with Ranjith (though not with his language).
I have been a supporter of Mr R Wickremasinghe for approximately three decades.
Now, I believe he is outdated. That does not mean I support the disastrous Moda-Dasa.
At the all Party Conference under Hon Mahinda Rajapaksa a few days ago, Mr Wickremasinghe was openly asking why ventillators cannot be produced locally !
This is similar to the Volkswagen Factory for which he laid a foundation stone in 2016.
The Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Engineering in Peradeniya have embarked on a project to build a model ventillator. This will be similar to the electric car that was produced in SL a few months ago. It was a dud, not capable of commercial production.
The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Medicine in the Ruhuna University have much more capability to produce a ventillator. With the backing of the task force boss, Basil Rajapaksa and commercial acumen of Namal Rajapaksa, the project in the Ruhuna University will reach fruition, quickly and thousands of SL Covid-19 patients will be saved.
Spot on Ranjith. ‘ Bastard’ is a too good word for this Kalu Sudda. In Sri Lankan, native vernacular we say ‘Kapanna Bari atha simbinawaa wagee’. ‘You kiss the hand which you can’t cut.’ That is exactly what this butterfly doing here.
Mr Amarakoon. When this senile bartered was interviewed by the BBC presenter during the waster bombing he dis not show any remorse at all. His body language showed with stupid grin in his face that he got this chance and happy to appear in world wide international television
During the Tamil conflict, it was very difficult to get weapons to defend our self and the little we got he destroyed by settling fire due to the pressure imposed by USA and UK under the demand of Tamil terrorist
This is the basted that stored paddy in a newly built airport.
This is a real mother fucking basted.
Ranjith, fully agree.
Indeed this Ponil is a senile bas*ard and he has been a bloody curse to our nation for a very long time. This is the senile SOB who allowed over 20 shiploads of LTTE weapons, including heavy weapons such as heavy caliber artillery and mortar guns, anti-aircraft guns, even aircraft in pieces (to be assembled in LTTE work shops and later used for aerial attacks/suicide bombings), etc. to be brought into LTTE held areas after he was hoodwinked by the Norwegian dominated SLMM to instruct SL Navy to NOT intercept or inspect any ships/boats that were coming into NE SL shores after that infamous “peace accord” – for which our dear armed forces were to pay a horrifically dear price later when (as done many time before) the LTTE broke that fake ceasefire too and re-waged their horrific terrorist war.
That alone was the time when I knew what a curse this bloody senile bas*ard was on our nation and when I see all what he has done (or not done – e.g. stopping the Easter Sunday horrific Jihadist bomb massacre) since then, I can see my assessment of him in 2002 was bang-on.
