Restructure UNP or 27 of its MPs will back no-faith motion against PM – Range
State Minister Palitha Range Bandara yesterday said the UNP had to be restructured or 27 UNP MPs would either vote for the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe to be tabled on April 4 or abstain from voting.
Bandara said no other UNP leader had been humiliated in that manner.
Bandara was speaking at a meeting of the newly elected local government members in Anamaduwa.
He said, “I may be expelled from the party and stripped of the state ministership. But I am not greedy for those positions and ready to forgo them anytime.”
“If that happens, I will retain my parliamentary seat till 2020 and serve the public, he added.

This is a three cornered struggle.
The master manipulators, R Family form one corner, RW, the quiet schemer, forms the 2nd corner and the novice adorning the big chair supported by an ex-Green stupid, forms the 3rd corner.
The R family and RW are great friends; they will emerge victorious from this crisis. The poor loser will be the big man adorning the big chair.
People have lost faith with the UNP for its weak leadership. Ranil was incompetent as a leader for he never really commanded any respect from the people that mattered and the UNP was just another party with no ideology that the population could rally to.
The party had no particular objecive and the manifesto ill conceived with bits and pieces cobbled together to serve the muslims and the tamils in return for their support. In the final analysis they felt betrayed for Y could not do what they wanted constitutionally!
Getting id of Ranil is one thing to find substitute will be even worse and if the UNP want disclose their identity then they should find either a muslim or a tamil and the party will not be any worse.
The biggest mistake Ranil made was that he flouted with conspiracy involving Mahendran and Alloysius who were the architects of Central Bank scandal and Ranils role was trivial and if can generate a credible story then he ought to be exonerated and he should remain to lead the party at the next general election. The outcome would be a foregone conclusion but without him the outcome would be catastrophic .
RW is the greatest political thinker of the current era.
He has vision; he has knowledge to pull us out of the debt trap to a real middle income country with a high GDP.
His view of dealing with corruption is not catching crooks but to implement process and steps to curb corruption.
The so-called Bond Scam is not RW’s making. A corrupt dealer and an even more corrupt Central Bank colluded to capitalise on the country’s immediate need for money. The country got its required money but the corrupt dealer and its corrupt supporters in the CB made a quick buck.
I hope RW will be installed as the Big Boss for 2 X 5 years at the next Presidential elections. He is the only leader with a powerful vision to transform the country.
The UNP should courageously walk out of the tottering Yahapalana immediately after the NCM is defeated.
The UNP should thereafter sit in opposition ranks and begin re-building the Party from grassroots in order to target a victory at next Presidential elections and 2/3rds majority at the next parliamentary elections.
These are achievable.
The UNP walkout of the Yahapalana will stun the traitor adorning the big chair and destabilise the rotten Blues.
Well Mr. Bertie UNP need the water of 7 Maha Weli Ganga to clean itself from Bond Scam mud! For Dimini Perera; Please get a textbook and read about leadership. If a Leader appoint rogues (no matter what school they study) and give them important positions and failed detect and take action in a timely manner is not a leader. If a leader failed to win competitive elections more than 21 times, then he is not a leader. We don’t care what is inside RW’s head. What we care is what he is doing? What he has done.
Comments by Dilmini and Bertie are brilliant.
The so-called Bond Scam is a product of corrupt officers in the CB who are remnants of the Blue era.
The Grandpa who is at the helm of the CB has no courage to clean-up the CB. He is busy developing outdated economic strategy based on his outdated education. He was so theoretically bankrupt that he had nowhere to work but for Rajaratnam.
The political veeraya who got on to the big chair having clouted hoppers, is trying to use the so-called Bond Scam to discredit the very persons who propelled him to the chair. A corrupt SC judge will write anything which his masters say in the Scam Report.
Ranil is cool; he is measuring his time; he has built youthful leadership in the party. He is our only hope.
