Senaka Batagoda passes away
Veteran Sri Lankan singer and lyricist Senaka Batagoda has passed away at the age of 66.
He reportedly died while receiving treatment at Ragama Hospital.
Among the songs sung by Senaka Batagoda are “Api Senasille,” “Sanasennam Ma,” “Ananthayata Yannaamai,” “Api Kawuruda,” “Heenawalata Panak,” “Alu Yata Gini,” “Senasuma,” “Nidi Nethi Reya,” “Eka Mohothaka,” and “Rastha.”
Senaka Batagoda, who had gained significant popularity for his performances, was issued a restraining order by Colombo Commercial High Court Judge Priyantha Fernando on April 2, 2024.
This order prevented him from performing seven specific songs: “Api Kawuruda,” “Api Senasille,” “Alu Yata Gini,” “Rastha,” “Heenawalata Panak Thiyenawa,” “Hondama De,” and “Sanasennam Ma.”
The restraining order was issued against him based on a complaint filed by musician Janath Kulathilake.
