Special UPFA meeting; Mahinda arrives at SLFP HQ
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived at the SLFP Headquarters a short while ago for a special meeting of the UPFA Executive Committee meeting. All leaders of the major constituent parties of the UPFA along with President Maithripala Sirisena is scheduled to be present at the meeting.
A special SLFP Central Committee meeting is also scheduled to be held today evening as announced by the party General Secretary earlier today.
I was of the view that nominations should not be given to the former President Rajapaksa to contest under the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) ticket at the forthcoming General Election, President Maithripala Sirisena said yesterday.
He added that he totally disagreed with the party’s decision to grant nominations to former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and that he will be defeated at the election, just like he was defeated at the last presidential election.

Maithripala Sirisena is a Traitor.
I cannot understand how Maithreepala can dictate to the party.
If he is against the collective decision of the majority of the party, either he need to agree to disagree and honour the collective decision, or resign from the party and join another.
Party is not a one man thing. Democracy is to honor the majority collective decision. One man trying to over-ride a collective decision is the sign of a dictator.
Looks like Sirisena is the dictator, not anyone else as portrayed around.
Manjula, have you heard the saying ‘Kana-koka igilenna patangattahamai suda penenne’.
I told many times this guy, MY3, was driven by greed. He enjoyed all the power and perks under MR to the last minute and turned traitor when UNP and CIA promised him the presidency.
Now what about the democracy he was prepared to give his life to go six feet under?
Is his excuses and reasoning are not the same as any other dictator’s?
here comes trouble to this beautiful little Island of ours
MS i not a traitor He knows what he is doing, this man in the picture(MR) is trying to take political revenge
but he will not succeed, If he is a true Buddhist he will know that revenge does not accomplish anything but one only looses everything that one has. why does he need so much power he should learn from the Jathaka stories of what happened to people who were greedy for power
