Wow, GOSL better tread extremely careful here. In light of Indian authorities currently uncovering one plot after another of LTTE terrorists’ attempts at revival, GOSL needs to be extremely vigilant. While many of us think RW is the man-of-the-hour to pull the nation out of the depths it has fallen into, many of us are also very mindful of how the LTTE+Norwegians took him for a repeated “peace ride” after another in the early 2000’s, just so LTTE could re-arm, re-recruit, eliminate opponents including SLA Military Intelligence personnel, and just buy time until they were ready for the next blitzkrieg, devastating attack on not only SLDF, but on soft-targets by exploding bombs in buses, trains, supermarkets, etc. As much as we want to see progressive measures to uplift the nation at this critical juncture, now it would be a death-blow to SL if LTTE terrorism were to rise up again!
Shocking! First, we have to examine why these organizations (and individuals) were subjected to this ban, Second, are they not a national threat anymore? Third, is this a promise made by RW to get votes to become the prez? Fourth, are these 316 individuals & 6 entities bringing much needed dollars?
I remember when I was a kid, the story my mother used to tell us to emphasize the importance of unity. A Vaddah trying to trap and kill a type of birds called ‘Vatuwa’ using a net. The flock had a good leader who ensured the peace and friendship within. Each time the Vaddah cast the nest, the flock would fly together at once lifting the net and then after depositing it on a tree, they would fly away from beneath saving their lives. Once the leader perished, bickering started. Then, when the net was thrown over the flock unity and peace had gone and each bird was waiting for the others to do the lifting. The Vaddah finally trapped the flock, killed and had a good dinner. That is what has happened to SL thanks to the 5* democracy imposed from outside. If there is anything the current denizens of the country still boast or proud about, those were achieved during the time of the kings who governed the country and directed the energy of the nation on a single path without 5* democracy. A national government won’t do a thing since it is going to fall apart in few months thanks to party politics and bickering from the day 1. If democracy disappear from this land one day, perhaps there will be some chance, but it will be too late already. There is something called ‘point of no return’. Amazing thing is the inability of the citizens to open their eyes and see how the country has progressed, say over the last 7 decades, with 5* democracy imposed on us from outside.
