Sri Lanka wins toss, bats 1st vs Bangladesh in World Cup
Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews won the toss and elected to bat first Thursday in its Cricket World Cup Pool A match against Bangladesh at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Sri Lanka included Dinesh Chandimal in the only change to its XI, replacing batsman Jeevan Mendis, who sustained a hamstring injury in training Tuesday. Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara is playing his 400th ODI.
Bangladesh fielded an unchanged lineup to the one that beat Afghanistan in their opening game.
The skies cleared for the start of the match after early cloud in Melbourne. The weather forecast is for the possibility of a shower later in the day.
