Sri Lanka’s Acting Defence Minister attends National Industrial Exhibition
Acting Defence Minister of Sri Lanka, Premitha Bandara Tennakoon attended the final day proceedings of the National Industrial Exhibition at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) today (June 25).
The National Industrial Exhibition was Organized by the Ministry of Industry and the Sri Lanka Industrial Development Board with the aim of creating a local industrial culture.
Minister Tennakoon visited the stalls of Tri Forces and related institutions and commended their participation and effort. This is the final day of the 4 day ‘Industry 2023’ exhibition.
For the first time in history, representing 21 industries about 750 participants had set up stalls at the exhibition.
Speaking at the event, Minister Tennakoon said that during the thirty-two years of war to regain peace, we were not able to manufacture any ammunition required for the war in our country, but now we have started the production of ammunition required for the security forces since last year.
The Sri Lanka Army Electrical and Mechanical Engineering Corps is carrying out modernization and value addition of vehicles to suit the needs of the defence sector, thereby saving a large amount of foreign exchange, he said.
He stressed the need for positive change in the thoughts and attitudes of today’s younger generation.
Many dignitaries including Ministers, senior state officials and guests were present on the occasion.
