Sri Lanka’s PM makes fresh call for foreign investments
Sri Lanka’s Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe on Tuesday made a fresh call on foreign investors to consider investing in Sri Lanka as the island country aims to become a hub in the Indian Ocean region.
“In Sri Lanka, you can make your money,” Wickremesinghe told local and foreign investors at the CIMA Business Leaders Summit in Colombo, state media reported.
The prime minister also called on the private sector to expand and play an increasing role in strengthening the country’s economy.
“We have a lot more to do in reaching our economic goals and for that, private sector needs to leverage on the opportunities created by the government,” he said.
Speaking on the proposed investment zones, industry corridors, Hambantota Port, Mattala Airport and Port City investments, Wickremesinghe said the private sector could play an important role in these projects and could also promote businesses through technology adoption.

Fresh call because no body respond to the last call. Economic hub?
This guy went all around the world like a head less chicken wasting tax payers money thinking that whole world come an invest in Sri Lanka (economic hub of the world) because the labor is cheap.
They made a fool of him giving all kind of falls promises and assurance to set up factories and businesses. So now nobody turned up and he is appealing again. How long this can go on.
What he said is right – “In Sri Lanka, you can make your money”.
Of course you can by:
1. breaking the law,
2. exploiting workers,
3. disposing waste into waterways,
4. filling drainage land for development,
5. mining beautiful mountains for rock,
6. building roads for 3 times the actual cost,
7. not paying taxes,
8. part time kudu business
9. destroying existing villages for underground tunnels
10. winning Government tenders through highest price
This list can be expanded to more than 100 items.
