Tissa Attanayake remanded for forging documents
The Colombo High Court today remanded former United National Party Secretary, Tissa Attanayake until December 5.
The former MP was noticed to appear in Court today with regard to an indictment filed by the Attorney General for allegedly publishing a letter with forged signatures of the Common Opposition candidate Maithripala Sirisena and the then Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe during the 2015 Presidential election.
High Court Judge Sarojani Kusala Weerawardena refused to grant the suspect bail.
Attanayake was indicted on three counts, for committing offences under the Penal Code, International Political and Civil Rights Convention and Presidential Election Act.
