UNP thinking old – Mahanayake

Mahanayaka of the Malwathu Chapter, Venerable Thibbotuwawe Sri Sumangala Thera today (17) said that the members in the working committee of the UNP were all over sixty years and had old views on issues.
The Mahanayake made this comment during a meeting with Moneragala district UNP MP Ranjith Madduma Bandara in Kandy.
The Venerabale Thera also said that the UNP which was known a party of the wealthy was changed during late President R. Premadasa’s era and after his demise the place for the common man in the party had diminished again.
“The UNP is again becoming a party of the affluent; people who can work for the country should be given their due place in the party for them to progress,” the Mahanayake Thera added.

The Mahanayake is correct. The rot is setting deeply in the UNP; it is a sort of empty vessel bereft of policy and direction.
It is reported the leader of the party who happens to be the leader of the opposition as well, is attending the birth-day party of a compatriot in London!! A couple of days age, he was rubbing his pot belly on TV complaining of high cost of living including the rising price of fish! from there he goes to London town for champagne and caviar!
When I see the line up in the working commitee (wheeler dealers and deadwood) I can visualise what the leader is after.
SPECULATION:
With the political jitterbugs that follow the UNSG Panel recommendations and treatment, there’s likelihood of dissent in the Blues Party. The ex Greenies who are now with the Blues and a few orginal leaders of the Blues can easily be turncoated (with wheeler-dealer buckshees and influences by ex Blue Prez’s who are now pally with the Green Leader) to enable the Green leader to become PM. MR wouldn’t care anyway; he and BR control 85% of budgeted expenditure and he will be happy to let the greeny leader and his cohorts control the rest.
Whe the greeny leader becomes PM, he will bark from the rooftop about abolishing the exec Presidency and replacing it with a ornamental Presidency with his bosom pal, the ex war hero turned convicted criminal filling in the role.
There we go dear citizens; we will be reduced to surviving on buth and pol sambol once in two days, shortly.
