Yatiyantota PS Chairman remanded
Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Gihan Pilapitiya remanded Yatiyantota Pradeshiya Shaba Chairman U D Wasantha Kumar, until August 2 for allegedly accepting a bribe from a businessman of the area.
The suspect Wasantha Kumar is alleged to have accepted the bribe of Rs.15,000 through another businessman in the area to assist the complainant to setup a farm shop in the area.
Bribery Commission Department officials who appeared for the prosecution submitted that investigations into the complaint had not been completed as yet and moved for a date to file a further report, in connection with their ongoing investigations.
Senior Attorney U R de Silva who appeared for the suspect submitted that his client is innocent and had not committed the offence of accepting a bribe from the complainant.
